CASE STUDY - Unley Primary School SA
1 Introduction
Resonate Acoustics was commissioned by Modular Wall Systems to assess an absorption barrier wall installed at Unley Primary School, South Australia. The absorption wall was to shield the noise generated by two large A/C units.
We have reviewed the installation and taken noise level measurements around the barrier wall.
2 Panel Specification
The Modular Wall Systems sound absorbing panel was used for the application.
The composition was as detailed below - Perforated outer skin with a Polymax internal panel core material.
3 Sound Transmission
The outer metal skin has a nominal Rw rating of 26 to 28 which may increase slightly with the inner perforated lining and the insulation material.
The 23% open perforated metal facing as detailed below is unlikely to significantly degrade the Polymax core performance and hence the wall provides a high level of sound absorption (estimated at 0.90 or greater).
The overall wall rating is hence calculated to be Rw 28 to 30 with an NRC rating of 0.9 to 1.0
